We had such a nice, unconventional Thanksgiving this year. It stared with the Macy's parade. We left our hotel which was downtown around 8:40am. That is pretty late if you want to get a good spot. My family got down there pretty early and had a great spot. With two kids we weren't that motivated and we didn't want to feel rushed at all on the trip so we were happy that we got to at least see a few balloons. We only stayed at the parade for 45 minutes before we had a little boy that wet his pants and one who soiled a diaper. It was easier to catch a cab and head back downtown to our hotel than to try and change them in some small bathroom in a coffee shop. When we got back to our hotel we got the boys changed then they played while Todd went to hunt down lunch for us. The closest thing we got to Turkey on Thanksgiving was the sandwiches Todd brought back for us. My family came and met us after the parade and we walked down to Ground Zero. Our hotel was about 4 blocks from there and only a block from Wall Street. GREAT location. We walked around Ground Zero. It was very emotional for me again. The last time I was there was right after if happened and they still had all the flyers up and memorials, etc. From there we walked Battery Park Boardwalk. It was so gloomy that morning but by the time we were ready to go do stuff the weather couldn't have been more perfect. It warmed up and the sun was shining down on us! When we got to Battery Park we were going to try to get to Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty but we missed the last boat by 15 minutes.

Ladder 10 is right across the street from the site. First to respond on 9/11. It gave me chills every time we saw a policeman or a fireman or a firetruck with the American flag draped over the back of the truck.

The ground level on ground zero is pretty secluded off. They had random little holes that you could look through. Here is Todd doing exactly that.

Wall Street.
Lots of banks on wall street... and REALLY nice jewelry shops. We saw a Maybach on our walk from Battery Park back to our hotel(about 6 blocks)... honestly who drives those? With all the money floating around the financial district it was either a bank CEO or P. Diddy. We were hoping for the latter. Speaking of star sighting... you'll have to wait until I post about that day! :) AND myself and my Aunt Cris may be the only 2 excited about it!
